Megan + Matt Married at Green Gables || San Diego, CA

100 year old school house, the family dog adorned in flowers, and a dance floor full of happy hips - pretty much sums up this epic day start to finish. Though there were some pretty incredible details in between that I can’t leave out. Like the amount of times that someone was lifted up by either the groomsmen, bridesmaids, or bride and groom or Megan having a first look with all three of her brothers and her dad. Though, my favorite detail of the entire day was the ring warming. I have never heard of something like this before and seeing it for the first time was truly special. The bride and groom decided to display their wedding bands out for each guest to pass by and say well wishes and prayers over them as they took their seats. Then, during the ceremony the rings were passed across the entire front row. Every family member physically held both rings as they passed on well wishes over Megan and Matt’s marriage. I loved watching the rings be passed from one family member to the next. From generation to generation as this new marriage was being lifted up.

I always get to learn so much about the bride and groom on their wedding day through their relationships with their friends and families. I learn through what the officiant says about them, their vows, and toasts. It’s usually what I look forward to most at weddings and what makes it so hard to deliver a gallery when it’s all finished (I feel so close to the couple by the end that there always seems like such a void in my heart when I ship off the gallery).

This was true for Matt and Megan. I knew them prior to their wedding through multiple close friends that I had the honor of being their wedding photographer and I felt like I got a little glimpse of who they were at their engagement session. After their wedding though I found myself adoring these two even more and how perfect they are together.

There were toasts that brought tears and some that had us cracking up, toasts about baby-making (looking at the father of the bride for this one), there was so much joy from start to finish. These two ended the night being so surrounded by love (and pretty funky dance moves). What a blessing it was to be there to witness it all.

Megan and Matt, I can’t find the words to tell you exactly how happy and honored I am that you chose me. I’m so pumped and grateful that you listened to your friends and picked me to document this day (and that you stuck with me even after I called you Michelle at another wedding this year. LOVE YOU MEGAN!) You two are a treasure on this earth and I wish you a lifetime of love, dancing around the living room (after watching episodes of World of Dance, duh!), and (when the time is right) the coolest little kiddos filling your home. So much love to you both!
