Tami + John Roaming Sunset Cliffs and Ocean Beach | Engagement Session

You know when you meet someone whether in person, email, social media, phone call, and you can tell pretty quickly if you will get a long with them well? Tami was like that for me. Maybe she's like that for a lot of people, I can definitely see that because she's so stinking sweet and likable. How can you not just want to pursue a conversation with her?

After we emailed back and forth a few times and then talked on the phone about booking me to shoot their wedding in Santa Barbara this May, I could tell how awesome she was and I hadn't even met her in person yet. Before getting to meet up with Tami and John I learned that they travelled to India together. There's something really awesome about traveling and having epic adventures with your partner + best friend and I think right then (before ever talking to John) I decided he was pretty cool too.

These two sweethearts drove down from the LA area to roam around my neck of the woods on the coast of San Diego. As the impromptu tour guide, I felt the pressure to show them the wonderful things about my neighborhood. You know that feeling when people visit where you call home and you want to make sure they love it as much as you do!? San Diego, you're not hard to sell it's just a weird quirk that I have. Hanging with Tami and John was so fun because I could tell they are the kind of people that are just down to explore a little and adventure in a new location. As I watched them from behind my lens, I saw two people smitten and full of joy just by being together. I watched how John looked at Tami and saw them laugh and laugh together and honestly, that's all I ever want to see when I'm hanging and shooting with my couples. It felt like I could have planted them in Tijuana, the middle of the desert, or on top of a mountain and they just would have been stoked to be together. They got out of the comfort zone a little for me by being in front of a camera, but sometimes just being with your person is your comfort zone and I love that. I love when sessions unfold like that. I want to get to know you and I just want to watch all the fun, sweet, and beautiful little quirks of your love for each other.

Tami and John - Thank you for trekking the cliffs, putting up with my corny jokes, and showing me your love for each other. I can't wait to do it all over again in May! See you in Santa Barbara!
