San Diego Family Skate Sesh

Admittedly, it has been a long time since I have blogged my recent work. I think the past year has hit me harder emotionally and mentally than I realized and I am always a huge advocate for self care. I took a step away from things that I truly did not need to have on my plate so I could give myself breathing room. A hiatus from blogging, but not from shooting (thankfully). It was such an unreal experience to go through lockdown and have my physical job come to a screeching halt. I can’t tell you how freeing it was the first time I could get back out and shoot again when California started opening back up again. I slowly, incrementally, started shooting again; family sessions, mini sessions, elopements, micro weddings, small parties and special events. It all looked different of course. Masks on, limited contact with vendors, socially distancing, no in-person consultations…and here we are now. I am so relieved to be at this point and seeing all the weddings on the horizon for the year ahead.

As I am getting back into the back-end side of my business again like blogging and social media, I am excited to start sharing all the rad people I have encountered and documented throughout this time.

This session was a recent one I shot with a fun little family of three that I just adore. When I rolled up, they had the charcoal grill fired up outside their home, the skateboard was ready to roll, little Howie was roaming around in the mulch, and their sweet dog was just watching it all unfold.

Campbell and Howie took to the street on the skateboard together for a little afternoon cruise while Aly tended dinner on the grill. Aly got some snuggles with Howie on the skateboard and then we ended the session with a little family fun.

Good vibes all around, some seriously glorious afternoon sun, and the perfect spring day here in San Diego.
