When you were little did you ever get into trouble for playing with your food?
Recently, I was able to be a kid again and do nothing but play with (and photograph) my food…more specifically some delicious dessert made from the Good Scone baking products. I had an amazing time hanging out with founder and CEO, Tricia Fages while she baked some yummy healthy apricot blueberry bars for us.
If you haven’t heard of the Good Scone yet, let me be the first to introduce you. Tricia started out spending several years in the wedding and events industry, owning a successful wedding cake and dessert company located in Southern California. Her company continued to grow and her passion for creating delicious pastries became greatly influenced by the needs of her clients. She continuously came across clients or family members of clients with food allergies, such as to wheat, milk, eggs, and nuts. They were wanting a dessert that the whole family could enjoy.
After years of perfecting recipes, Tricia wanted to share this product with the whole world. “My goal was very simple: I wanted couples, friends, and families to truly have their cake and eat it too. And this is where the Good Scone was born!”
Now, If you have ever tasted my moms cooking, you would probably be pretty embarrassed for my lack of skills in the kitchen. Although, I do tend to favor baking over cooking and I have mastered the pancake, but beyond that I’m just shy of helpless in the kitchen. I’m okay with it of course because I married a jack-of-all-trades and one of those trades is culinary expertise. Regardless of my skill level in the kitchen though, when it comes to baking, the Good Scone is a product that not only do I trust putting in my body, but that is so easy for me to use. Whether I’m making my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, I can use the Good Scone All-Purpose flour or I can have fun with other recipes as well using the Vanilla or Chocolate Cake mixes.
So delicious and pretty darn hard to believe it’s all gluten-free, dairy-free, nut free, soy-free, egg-free, certified Organic, and Vegan-friendly. Even our canine companion Griffin tried to get in on some of the fun!
If you want to read more about the Good Scone’s story, check out the site. Recipe below!
Serving Size: 1 Bar
Calories per serving: 201
* Optional: Pure maple syrup or honey for drizzling
We had a blast playing with the food and kept adding powdered sugar and other goodies to the mix, but you can adjust as much or little sweetness that you desire. Now of course you can always change up the fruit and preserves to your favorites and voi-la! Enjoy!
The Good Scone mixes are available for purchase online or at any of these Southern California locations.
Ps- If you happen to notice a darling belly peaking over the table there’s a different kind of bun in the oven! Tricia is in her third trimester of her first pregnancy and she is goals right now. Baby girl on the way is gonna be one lucky little lady. I’m just hoping that her mama’s kitchen talents pass on to her!

Have you ever met someone who is unfailingly positive, happy, and all around awesome and then thought to yourself, "how lucky am I to be around someone so positively contagious?" Then, you meet their other half who matches every ounce of their awesomeness and think, "is this real life?" I have been blessed enough to have this experience with two of my favorite people in the world, Craig and Liz.
Initially, when I met Craig, my first impression was: he is the absolute funniest guy on this planet and my life is now better that I know he exists. I'm not kidding, either. Craig could put a smile on your face even in your darkest hours. He is an all around happy guy who loves to have fun and just loves life. When I met Liz (spoiler alert: now Craig's FIANCE), I couldn't have been more impressed and inclined to believe God brought these two together. To put it lightly, she is a rad human being. She skates, surfs, and she is an incredibly talented make-up artist. Possibly the sweetest and most authentic woman I know. Someone people just can't help but gravitate towards, ya know?
Why am I talking so much about how great these two are? Well, I had the the great pleasure of being a spy for a day to capture Craig and Liz's sweetest surprise proposal. Craig and Liz both grew up in San Diego and Liz being from Point Loma has spent quite some time over the years at Sunset Cliffs. A special thing they do together at the cliffs is walk along the beach to look for sea glass. Craig took Liz down to the beach one afternoon at sunset, to their much frequented spot, to look for sea glass and then to get down on one knee and propose! My face hurt from smiling so much and I definitely had to wipe tears off of my camera. There is something about a proposal, especially for two very special people, that just makes me so so happy. I actually danced around my living room with glee for two days straight that week in reference to this beautiful occasion.
Congratulations Craig and Liz, the raddest most wonderful people I know. YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED!
From the moment I heard about this shoot through my mentor and fellow photographer, Corey Villicana, I was so excited to get involved. My imagination was running wild thinking about what fun things we could do. What would the best day ever in spring look like? I grew up in the Northeast, so spring to me was always basically half winter and half coming out of my house for the first time, in what seemed like decades, to be greeted by a warm sun and tulips bursting through melting snow. However, when I think of spring I can't help but picture fresh flowers, beautiful sundresses, and friends getting together to hang out. There's just something about warmth and sunshine that makes people want to see each other more, ya know?
We got started brainstorming and right away a group of us dove into creating old school inspiration boards for the Liv3 Spring 2016 Lookbook. That's right, I'm talking glue, scissors, and lots of pretty magazines and catalogs. When the shoot came together it was like magic. Imagine the best day you've ever had with the coolest friends you know just hanging out in the woods and you all look incredible. It was that good! There were whimsical flowers, star "graffiti", dreamy macrame wall hangings and my favorite part - we had some fun with smoke grenades which I had been wanting to play with for so long! Now, I've had my fair share of extremely fun group outings with my friends, but this shoot was definitely one for the books as well. It was truly, (fabulously) authentic. Needless to say, it was an amazing day of being able to photograph amazing people in amazing clothes, accessories, and products.
Thank you Liv3 for this beautiful day and collaboration.
